We want to make sure that you are able to make an informed decision when choosing your crate hire and packaging products. With this in mind, we have put together some questions that customers have frequently asked when looking to rent moving crates and purchase packaging for their home or office move.

What Are Your Opening Hours If We Decide To Collect And Return Our Crates?
Our opening hours are from 8:30am to 5:30pm Mondays to Fridays (excluding Bank Holidays). Our staff will be more than happy to help you load or unload your crates from any of our nationwide crate hire depots.
Do You Rent Crates For Home Moves As Well As Office Moves?
Crate Hire UK supplies a wide range of moving crates, packaging and crate handling equipment to both business and home owners needing to move, store and relocate.
How Many Types And Sizes Of Hire Crates Do You Supply?
We always look to offer customers the widest range of hire crates available, as a result we offer 8 different sizes and types of crates available to rent on a weekly basis. We supply lidded crates and unlidded crates in different convenient sizes giving you complete flexibility for your specific application. Can We Book Our Crate Hire Online?
Absolutely, our new website is designed to allow customers to book rental crates online easily and securely. Booking our hire crates is simple, just choose the hire crates you wish to rent for your moving, storing or relocating application; tell us when you need them and how long for and then checkout and pay. We accept all types of major credit and debit cards and our payment process is SSL secured so there is no need to worry about any details being shared.
Do You Offer Discounts?
We offer generous discounts to customers in the education sector. Discounts of up to 35% are typically available, so please get in touch with us on 0845 835 4870 to discuss your order with us. From time to time we also publish voucher codes for domestic customers to use. The best way to make sure you don't miss a special offer, is to sign up to our newsletter, which you can find right at the bottom of this page.
How Can I Pay For My Hire Crates And Packaging?
If you are using our online store to book crates or purchase packaging, you will be required to pay by credit or debit card upon checkout. You may also pay over the phone by credit or debit card when ordering with our customer services department. If you are a business customer you may also set up a trade account with us, please contact us directly on 0845 835 4870 to arrange. Pro forma invoices can also be submitted upon request.
Can I Buy Home Moving Packaging Online Also?
Of course, just as you can book your rental crates online, you can choose the packaging you require; add to your basket and pay as per normal at checkout. You can purchase removals packaging separately to our crate hire service or you can order them together at the same time. Our intuitive online shop will guide you smoothly through the process whether you just want to purchase packaging, hire crates or both.
How Many Crates Do I Need To Move?
All moves are different, which is why we have provided a smart crate calculator tool to help you calculate a crate hire package just for you. Our crate rental calculator recommends a bespoke crate package based on the number of people or staff you are looking to move. We have a separate calculator for office moving and home moving to best fit your requirements.
Are There Any Minimum Order Requirements When Hiring Crates Or Purchasing Packaging?
Absolutely not, you can hire as many crates and purchase as little packaging as you like, we have no minimum order requirements. We always recommend however, that having more is better than not having enough.
Can I Buy Crates Rather Than Renting Them From You?
If you are looking to use the crates for a short period of time only, renting crates is far more cost effective than buying. However, we do and can sell our moving crates if you require a longer-term solution. Please contact us directly to enquire about which hire crates we have for sale.
Do You Only Sell Used Crates Or Can I Purchase New Moving Crates?
If you are looking to purchase brand new plastic packing crates we can also provide you with a price for these. Please call 0845 835 4870 to discuss your requirements further. We can provide new crates in many different colours and can print or brand them with a logo if required (minimum quantities apply).
How Do I Place An Order For Crate Rental Or Packaging?
It's really simple. Our easy to use online shop lets you book crates, hire crate handling equipment and purchase packaging within 3 easy steps. If you would prefer to order by phone (0845 835 4870) then our customer service team will be more than happy to take your order.
If you need to change or decide you wish to cancel your order please phone our office as soon as possible on 0845 835 4870, and we will endeavour to cancel or change your order and amend any payments made.
What If We Want Our Crates Collected Early?
If you have booked rental crates online or over the phone and wish to return or have the crates collected early, you can email or phone us to arrange an early collection. Any rental charges taken that are not used (i.e. original crate hire order is for 2 weeks but you returned or arranged collection within the first hire week) will be credited to the original payment source on receipt of crates.
What If We Need To Keep Our Crates On Hire For Longer?
If you have booked rental crates online or over the phone and wish to have the crates for longer than originally requested, please hold on to the crates until you have finished with them. We will take a payment each additional week you have the crates on hire from your original payment source at the same pro-rata weekly rental. We will notify you by email before any payment is taken.
When you have finished with the crates just contact us to arrange a collection or arrange a delivery back to one of our depots.
How Do I Know My Payment Details Are Secure?
All payments taken by us for crate rental and packaging are extremely safe and secure. Our payment partner Sagepay uses a number of security checks to guard against online fraud whilst providing RapidSSL encryption to ensure your personal billing details are completely safe. We do not hold any credit card information to comply with strict rules and regulations. When confirming payment online a padlock will be visible in the web address bar to signify our site is SSL certified. The Crate Hire UK site is completely PCI compliant.
Do You Have Any Customer Reviews That I Can Look At?
Yes, we have lots of reviews from customers that you can read on independent review websites! You can see Crate Hire UK reviews on a number of websites including, Trust Pilot where our customers rate us as excellent, and over on Review Centre, where we are rated 4.7 out of 5 (as at January 2015).
Do You Take Payment Up Front?
Yes, all payments taken are for the requested period of hire depending on type and quantity of crates and products ordered. Delivery and collection charges if applicable will also be taken and VAT will be added upon checkout. If a valid discount code is available, the applicable discount will be deducted before any payment is taken by Crate Hire UK.
What Time Can We Expect Our Crates To Be Delivered Or Collected?
If you have not requested a timed delivery or collection when booking your crates, then we generally deliver our hire crates in the morning from 8:30am to 12:00pm and collect all rental crates in the afternoon from 12:00pm till 5:00pm. If you need them to be delivered or collected within a more suitable time period, we recommend booking a time for delivery and collection when ordering crate hire online to avoid any disappointment.
How Much Notice Do I Need To Give For Crate Hire Deliveries?
Our next day standard delivery is subject to orders placed before 4:30pm. Unfortunately, we do not deliver or collect at weekends so please be sure to pick a day when you know you will be available to accept and check your order. We can also provide timed deliveries upon booking for a small additional charge. Deliveries are usually made in the morning and collections in the afternoon.
What Areas Do You Deliver And Collect To And From?
Crate Hire UK is a nationwide crate hire and packaging service, helping people and businesses move, store and relocate. Therefore, we deliver and collect from anywhere in the UK, including all major cities, towns, villages and shires.
Can I Collect My Order From You?
Absolutely, it would be good to see you and you can choose to collect from one of our 7 nationwide crate service centres. All we ask is that you allow an hour after ordering so we can ensure your crate or packaging order is ready and waiting. Our hours of business are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.

What Happens If I Do Not Return My Crates On Time?
If you fail to make the crates available at the date requested on your order, an additional rental charge will be incurred at the same rental rate. An email notification will be sent automatically informing you of any outstanding hire items. Additional hire charges will be taken up front on a weekly basis until all hire items are returned. If you wish to purchase the crates as lost, you will need to notify us in writing at your earliest convenience.
Can We Keep Our Hire Crates Longer If We Need To?
Absolutely, if you wish to extend your crate rental period with us then please inform us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (0845 835 4870) no later than the day prior to collection and we will be more than happy to help.
Can Your Hire Crates Be Sealed Securely?
All of our attached lidded crates can easily be secured using our crate security seals. When you have finished packing your moving crate, close the integrated interlocking lid and use our security seals to lock. This will ensure your belongings are protected in transit and storage. We also can supply numeric cable ties for added security if needed.
Do Your Crates Stack On Top Of Each Other?
Yes, all of our moving crates are fully stackable when full and nest inside of each other when empty allowing you to maximise valuable space when packing and filling your crates.
What Are The Crates Made Of?
All of our plastic moving crates are made from polypropylene which offer added strength and robustness to our crates. Polypropylene is 100% recyclable so when our crates come to the end of their lives, they are easily recycled and reused making them extremely friendly to the environment. A great sustainable solution to help you move office and home.
Are Your Crates Weatherproof?
Due to our rental crates being made from polypropylene virgin plastic, the hire crates can withstand the weather. Although not waterproof, if you are needing to store your full crates outside for a short time your contents will generally be protected. We advise that you do not store contents in our hire crates outside for long periods of time as we cannot be held responsible for your contents or the British weather.
Do You Hire Any Other Equipment Other Than Crates?
Absolutely, as you would expect from the fastest growing crate hire business in the UK, we also hire crate handling equipment to make your home or office move effortless. Roll cages, Crate Dollies, Crate Skates, Sack Barrows, Library Trollies and Rubber Topped Removal Crate Skates are all available to hire online or over the phone.
Do You Provide Removal Services As Well?
We do not provide removal services, but suggest if you are looking for a removal service to visit the British Association of Removers website to find a company in your area.
